Our Team member from PTB, Dr. Johannes Tiedau has been selected as one of the five Werner von Siemens Fellows 2025. This prestigious fellowship recognizes outstanding early-career scientists whose research holds exceptional potential for technological innovation and scientific advancement.

Dr. Tiedau is honored for his groundbreaking work in high-precision timekeeping. Together with colleagues from TU Wien and PTB, he succeeded in using a laser to change the nuclear state of the isotope thorium-229 — a major milestone on the path toward developing the world’s first optical nuclear clock.
