Ou Team in Munich is happy to welcome Sandro Kraemer to their team. Sandro is a postdoc coming from Leuven University in Belgium and here is what he has to say about his work within the team:
I will be working on the cryogenic trap at LMU and sympathetic cooling
of thorium ions to allow for new measurements extending our knowledge
on the isomer and serving as part of a first clock prototype.
The isomer of thorium-229 has previously already been subject of my
research: During my PhD thesis at KU Leuven the isomer’s radiative
decay was measured for the first time using beams of synthetic
radioactive ions.
Welcome to the Team, Sandro!
