Our team in Munich is happy to have Dr. Mahmood Irtiza Hussain on board.
He will be working on the development of vacuum ultraviolet comb ~ 150 nm at the Fraunhofer ILT in Aachen. Later he will take care of the transfer of that Laser to Munich to drive ~ 8.3eV quantum isomeric state (nuclear transition) in the trapped thorium ion to realize an ultra-precise nuclear clock.
Mahmood received his Ph.D. from Griffith University, Australia, where he worked on engineering and integration of a high repetition rate, picosecond UV laser source with trapped ions for fast quantum logic operations. After that he was working at the University of Innsbruck as a post-doc for 3 years.
Welcome to the team, Mahmood!
